The Snowy Project UK • Using Woodheys Primary (we won the 2007 Ashden Award for Sustainable Energy in Schools) as a model, six other Primary schools in Trafford, Greater Manchester, now have Energy Teams who regularly meet to read meters, run competitions and produce educational resources to improve understanding and knowledge about energy and water usage.
• We are all supported by the Energy Management team of Trafford Borough Council and by Action for Sustainable Living, a local charitable organisation.
• Now that the teams are set up, it is our intention to continue the work indefinitely and to recruit other schools to join us until all schools in our area are part of the project and it becomes a way of life for all.

tREe-CYCLE UK We were concerned about the increasing carbon emissions from our school transport. We conducted a survey on vehicle use, model, emissions and journey length for the entire school for a year. We calculated, we need to plant 4490 trees to offset annual transport emissions. To date we have planted 2800 trees, organised a cycle to school day to encourage less vehicle use, built a bike shed from recycled materials, organised cycle buses, influenced government to action cycle lanes and setup a tree nursery for all new students to grow trees. Our vision, to become carbon neutral with our school transport. Send Email |

Trip Switch UK We promoted car sharing throughout schools, the council and businesses in the area.
We gave incentives for using bikes, buses or walking - prizes etc!
This was achieved through our climate champions network and meetings between all parties taking part. Send Email |
