Aims: To create community awareness on deforestation and climate change

To use agroforestry as a means for tackling environmental concerns

To develop innovative techniques for use by school and community
Description: The Bahati Foresthas suffered severe deforestation over recent years, causing higher temperatures, less water and a decrease in food production. On Valentine’s Day 2009, our group visited the forest and ‘fell in love with the environment’! Since then we have focused our attention on agroforestry as a means to redress the concerns. We also developed a sawdust ‘jiko’ (simple cooker) to help reduce the need for fuel wood.
